Restaurant Caru’ Cu Bere

At Caru’ cu Bere, you may savor our mouthwatering fare and the greatest house-made beer, which is brewed according to a special recipe that dates back to 1879.
Caru’ cu bere is now more concerned with preserving a custom.
The special handcrafted beer formula and the specifically created menu, which is filled with classic Romanian cuisine, will be served upstairs in the brewery and will bring back memories of how the food used to taste in the past.
If our guests are ready for a long night at Caru cu Bere, they are welcome to use our old wine cellar.
You may see several antique, unique things that represent the background and character of the beer beverage at the same location. Caru cu Bere is the place to go if you want a visit that involves drinking a lot of beer and if you really want to experience the “spirit” of the beer.
A place full of history and tradition, Caru’ cu Bere is the ideal restaurant in Bucharest where you can savor traditional Romanian meals produced from recipes developed decades ago, along with the house beer, an original and well-kept recipe.
Anyone who visited Bucharest but didn’t go to Caru’ cu Bere can claim they haven’t been here at all. We’re not proclaiming to be the center of the universe or issuing Bucharest citizenship, but after existing for so long, it’s safe to say that we’ve come to represent the Romanian capital in all its glory.
Even though the renowned restaurant in Bucharest’s old center has been there for more than a century, we haven’t fallen behind the times. What we wouldn’t ever change is the house beer, which is the exact same beer that the founder of Caru’ cu bere brought from Germany to leave as a legacy for future generations. Some things were changed so that we wouldn’t be perceived as being too rusty, but the house beer is what we wouldn’t change ever and ever.
We couldn’t call ourselves a restaurant if we only served beer, though, would we? Thank God, our varied cuisine can satisfy even the most discerning palates.
Over the years, both good and horrible things have happened to our restaurant.
The toughest times occurred in 1948 when the eatery was abruptly taken over by the newly imposed communist dictatorship.
Things were never the same again when the proprietor was informed that they had a short time to turn over the restaurant to the city of Bucharest.
Things didn’t get better until the nephews of Nicoale Mircea reclaimed possession of the restaurant from the government in 1999.
In 2006, the restaurant reopens in collaboration with the City Grill Group following major renovations.
The reopening of the restaurant in Bucharest signifies more than just the creation of a physical space; it also marks the opening of a door and a table. The restaurant’s reopening is a representation of Nicolae Mircea’s heirs’ and the City Grill Group’s dedication to continuing to preserve Bucharest’s cultural identity.
